News report on cyclone Yasi

As this was the most recent cyclone to hit Australia, and there was a huge amount of media coverage leading up to the cyclone, I'm posting this video of a British news report on the preparations that were undertaken leading up to the cyclone's landfall.
You could pose an interesting question (although perhaps somewhat morbid): There was so much media coverage before the cyclone hit, with many outlets predicting it to be the worst cyclone in Australia's history. In terms of damage, it was that (not taking into account inflation), however there were no deaths directly relating to the cyclone. In the days following Yasi, as Townsville, Cairns, Innisfail and Mission Beach began their clean up, I recall hearing virtually nothing about the state of the towns or people affected. Do you think this is directly related to the fact that nobody died, and therefore the aftermath was not deemed 'newsworthy'?
